The 2021 Chevy Blazer was also in a similar position as its competitor from Ford. The upside to the infotainment upgrades and 19-inch wheels also meant the 2021 model year had more standard features coming off the line, which is always a good thing. However, the 2021 model year was left relatively safe as a carryover from 2020. The midsize SUV received a minor infotainment upgrade and some interior luxury touch-ups. The 2021 Ford Edge didn’t have a whole lot of new features to add to its lineup and was mostly in the stop-gap category. Both the Blazer and the Edge found themselves with some tweaks entering the 2021 model year. However, that didn’t mean that there still weren’t some changes to be made and some kind of modifications to be had. Why? Because all the major midsize vehicles were basically in a holdover state until being refreshed with something exciting in the following years. The 2021 model year lineup of midsize SUVs and crossovers for Ford and Chevy was quite interesting. It’s not a bad package, but it doesn’t really compare to an all-new powertrain. The Brick Red stitching was also used for the embroidered Edge logo in the interior. While the Blazer received an all-new powertrain option, the Edge only received an Elite Package for the Titanium trim, which included a Ceramic interior color scheme and Brunello door inserts sporting Brick Red stitching. The changes for 2020 were far less significant than the additions the 2020 Blazer received, though. So what did this mean for the 2020 model year? It meant that the Edge received only some of the most basic touch-ups in the form of some trim options and color rotations. The 2020 Ford Edge was in a similar position to the 2020 Blazer, insofar that the previous year saw the Edge being on the receiving end of a mid-generation refresh. Basically, it was designed to give you more power than the entry-level 4-cylinder and better fuel economy than the V6. The engine is slotted between the entry-level 2.5-liter 4-cylinder and the beefier 3.6-liter V6. The new engine option opened up potential shoppers to have access to 230 horsepower and up to 258 pound-feet of torque. One of the more notable additions was the 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder powertrain. So the highlight for 2020 was basically just the Blazer receiving a few touch-ups and modifications to its already much talked about feature list. Of course, given that 2019 marked the new model year’s foray into the car shopping consciousness of potential SUV buyers, there wasn’t much reason to go all out for 2020. Chevrolet managed to buck trends with the re-emergence of the Blazer thanks to its aerodynamic lines and strikingly modern exterior. 2020 was just a continuation of the nameplate being relaunched for a more modern shopping audience. The 2020 Blazer was coming off a completely fresh 2019 model launch. Even still, some minor changes were implemented to further refine their offerings. This helped set them apart from the competition for the 2019 model years but posed a problem for the 2020 model year as they didn’t have much new to offer. Why? Because both vehicles were coming off some big changes from the previous year. This was a fascinating year for both the Blazer and the Edge. We’ll take a look at features such as fuel economy and towing capacity, as well as interior space and cargo volume. You might even be surprised at some of the results. Now there’s no reason to do an entire encyclopedia on these vehicles, but it may be interesting to highlight their differences over the last three model years. More specifically, we’re taking a look at how the Blazer and the Edge have stacked up against each other, including comparing the 2022 Chevy Blazer vs 2022 Ford Edge. Well, we’re doing it here today, and the specific topic of this article will be midsize SUVs between 20. Which brand offers the better pickups? Which has the better sports cars? Which one outperforms the other on the race track? Which of the two has the better luxury vehicles? No matter what the comparison is, there is always some way to boil down an automaker duel into a Ford versus Chevy comparison. The Ford vs Chevy debate has raged on for a century.
